The Donald W. Thomas Library Policies

The Donald W. Thomas Library of the GZAAT offers its members a wide range of sources (a collection of English, Georgian & Russian, audio & video- cassettes, CDs & software; as well as computers, access to the use of Internet, a copier, and a printer) as well as professional help by the Librarians in selecting, evaluating, and locating materials in the Library and on the Internet, planning and composing your research assignments; assistance in the use of computers and other equipment.

The Library is open Monday through Thursday 8.00-18.00, Friday 8.00-14.00, & Saturday 13.00-16.00.

The library welcomes all GZAAT faculty and students. They have the privilege of using the Library as long as they comply with the Library rules outlined in this Handbook.

Library items are available for loan on the following conditions:

 


  1. only 3 items can be borrowed at a time  by a student in person provided he / she  has no other items on loan;

  2. maximum loan period is 2 weeks for non-fiction and 4 weeks for fiction;

  3. the borrowed items can be renewed if they are not requested on the waiting list;

  4. Library items can be reserved on a waiting list in case they are not readily available;

  5. upon request of teachers some Library items shall be held on reserve and cannot be removed from the Library;

  6. the borrowed items must be checked in exclusively to the librarians;

  7. in the event of not returning the borrowed items in time the librarian should be informed in advance. Violation of this requirement will entail a fine in the amount of 5 GEL.

  8. all the borrowed items must be returned in the same condition as before borrowing. Students will be charged the full replacement cost of damaged or lost items.

Please kindly bear in mind the following:

  1. duplication of all materials is subject to supervision by a librarian. Check with the Librarians about the directions of how to print and copy in the Library;

  2. socially accepted conduct and decorum must be maintained at all times by occupants of the Library; Food and drinks, use of cell phones, personal electronic music devices, computer games, printing and copying of material unrelated to school work are strictly prohibited; the Library is for academic purposes only and those socializing will be asked to leave.

  3. violation of Library rules and expectations (posted on the walls in the Library) will result in suspension of membership for a period specified by librarians. All suspension facts will go into a student’s personal file. 3 suspensions will be considered grounds for a disciplinary probation.
